I tend to post more fitspo than thinspo but a lot of people argue against fitspo as well. No fucks given. Stop censoring shit. As long as it’s not pro-ED than there’s really no problem.Thinspo or thinspiration is inspiration, in photos or in text, for people who are trying to undergo a strict diet. It helps them reach their goal because they can focus on it when actually seeing what they want or who they want to become. An example would be a photo of a skinny model or a short paragraph describing how things will get better when they’re done with it.
Controversialism with thinspo is due to is use by girls with EDs. Thinspo helps them visualize their goal too, and since starving is much harder than just dieting they need much more encouragement.
I’m not pro mia or pro ana or pro any sort of ED, but I have nothing against thinspiration. Why? Because it’s not something specific for those with eating disorders. It’s a general way of encouraging people to stay healthy. I’m not against dieting either, if it is accompained by physical activity and as long as it is regulated. Just because some people use it for other purpouses doesn’t mean that it is bad. It actually works for lots who need to lose weight, and you can’t just deprive them of help because you’re afraid others will misuse it. Fire can be used for keeping warmth and for cooking, but it can also be used for burning and lighting up cigarettes. That doesn’t mean you should ban it. It means that everything, used in excess and unresponsibly, can be turned into a bad weapon instead of a good tool.
